SSOL Schroth Scoliosis Rehabilitation

Our Training

Carole Chebaro, Physiotherapist, and Nicole Mele, Registered Kinesiologist, are both trained and certified in the Schroth Method under Andrea Lebel—Canada’s first Schroth Physiotherapist, personally selected by Christa Lehnert-Schroth, daughter of founder Katharina Schroth.

Since 2023, Carole and Nicole have been applying the SSOL Schroth Scoliosis approach, grounded in the original Schroth principles and adapted for individuals ranging from children to older adults. The Schroth Method is an evidence-based approach that aligns with the established guidelines of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT).

Scoliosis Assessment:
Your SSOL Schroth Physiotherapy Assessment includes a detailed in-person or virtual evaluation.

  • A review of your relevant medical history, current symptoms, and personal goals
  • Detailed postural analysis in a variety of postures
  • Evaluation of your specific scoliosis curve pattern
  • Assessment of strength, sensation, range of motion, balance, reflexes, and functional movement
  • Review and analysis of spinal X-rays, when available
  • Assessment of brace fit, comfort, and function, if applicable
  • Ongoing reassessments to monitor progress and response to treatment
  • A collaborative discussion to identify your priorities and tailor care to your needs
  • Exploration of how scoliosis may impact your quality of life, including daily activities, work, recreation, and sport

Your care is never delivered in isolation. When appropriate, we collaborate with you and your wider healthcare team—including your family doctor, orthotist, caregivers, surgeon, and other allied health professionals—to ensure a cohesive, supportive treatment plan. You remain at the centre of every decision we make.

Scoliosis Treatment:
Your SSOL Schroth Treatment Sessions include tailored, Schroth-based interventions guided by your assessment.

  • Schroth-specific exercises tailored to your unique scoliosis curve pattern
  • Corrective postural cues to help integrate improved posture into daily activities
  • Breathing exercises to promote rib cage mobility, support lung capacity, and improve postural control
  • Manual therapy, when appropriate, using hands-on techniques to explore and address areas of reduced mobility, stiffness, and discomfort
  • Targeted warm-up activities to support sensory and motor control
  • Coordination exercises to enhance neuromuscular awareness and functional stability
  • A personalized Home Exercise Program to build awareness, confidence, and reinforce newly learned movement strategies
  • Education on daily life habits to reduce spinal load and minimize collapse
  • Guidance on simple, effective equipment to support a practical and sustainable home routine

Our goal is to empower you to take an active role in managing your scoliosis through education, movement, and consistent support.

We recognize that individuals and their families may have different goals following a scoliosis diagnosis. From the outset, we focus on providing reassurance, setting realistic expectations, and tailoring care to each person’s needs. Treatment plans are dynamic and evolve as you progress through care.
