General Questions
Do I need a doctor’s referral or prescription for services?
This depends on your insurance provider. Kindly contact them directly to learn your coverage detail- that is, your maximum annual coverage per therapy service (Physio, Massage, Acupuncture) per year as well as the maximum payable amount that they will cover per session.
How is my information secured?
Your information is secured for 10 years as per the requirements of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Your chart is secured in a locked cabinet and our clinic is secured with a 24-hour security system.
How long will my appointments last?
This will vary based on your needs. Initial appointments last between 45 to 90 minutes and typically include an assessment and a treatment portion. Follow up appointments range from 30 to 90 minutes. This will also vary based on the number of sessions you attend per week, your participation with self-care at home and the nature and chronicity of your condition.
Can I be treated at home?
Absolutely! We have been offering home care, in hospital, at work and community care since we opened in 2008. Please note that there is a travel charge, however we try our best to set you up with a therapist that lives geographically closest to you to help reduce your overall cost. Please contact us for more detail.
What should I expect from my first treatment?
Expect ample opportunity to voice your goals, your past and present medical history and any other information related. You will receive an initial physical assessment along with education about treatment options to determine the most personalized plan we can provide you.
What is a typical treatment?
A typical treatment is typically multifaceted in nature. It will consist of manual therapy whereby the therapist provides hands on soft tissue work, as well as facilitated movement to progress towards your goals and the prescription of at least one movement pattern or exercise regime to take home. We strongly believe that helping you build your self-care strategies are critical such that when you are discharged, you are empowered with measures to maintain the physical goals you have achieved.
Where do you provide treatment?
Our services extend to your environment- be it your home, school, work or community. We understand that it may be difficult for some clients to come to us, so we can assist by coming to you. Please contact us for more detail.
What if I have been in a car accident?
Call us to help you navigate the motor vehicle collision system and in completing the necessary documents such as OCF (Ontario claim forms). We will help ensure you are educated and informed about this process. With your informed consent, we will gladly work with any other health care professionals on your team.
How do fees and billing work?
Private (out of pocket, extended health insurance)
We require clients to pay after the completion of each session received. Should you have extended health coverage, we require that you submit to your insurance company directly for reimbursement. We will ensure you have the appropriate invoice and receipt as per insurance companies’ request.
When applicable, our administration team will be glad to help you contact your insurance provider and collect information about your coverage plan, however, we are unable to do so without you present. Also, it is your responsibility to confirm the accuracy and details of your coverage plan. Please note that we require you to also confirm whether your insurance plan requires you to have a doctor’s referral in order to reimburse you.
MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident insurance)
We will work with your insurance company in accordance to FSCO (Financial Services Commission of Ontario) regulations, along with any applicable external rehab or legal team. Please call us to learn more.
